Leclerc: "This weekend was hell." Vasseur: "It went very badly."

Ferrari concluded the weekend in Holland with a double retirement: Lewis Hamilton crashed after a mistake at Turn 3, while Charles Leclerc was hit by Kimi Antonelli . "I'm not sure what happened, I had a rear skid and couldn't recover," explained the seven-time world champion. "The car was a bit nervous. Despite that, I think we made some progress; I had a good pace. It's not nice to not finish a race and exit like this, but that's how it went today."

Leclerc gave it his all in the Netherlands, even completing a move on George Russell similar to Valentino Rossi's on Casey Stoner at Laguna Seca. "I had to be aggressive; we're fighting for the constructors' position with Mercedes," the Monegasque told Sky Sport. In a week, he'll be back on track in Monza for the Italian Grand Prix: "I can't wait; the energy is always very positive, and it's needed after a weekend like this. It'll be great to see all the fans again; now I have to forget about this race." Leclerc added to Canal+ that "this weekend was hell, from FP1 to the race."

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur analyzed his drivers' performance after the race: "We had a terrible Friday, then a great recovery in qualifying with a good race pace, which could have taken Leclerc to the podium. Overall, it went very badly. Lewis had the accident right after Charles's pit stop, and we lost a few positions. It was a difficult weekend, starting badly on Friday. Hamilton perhaps ran a little too wide at Turn 3, but overall he did a great job. He pushed us back to a decent pace. Leclerc was a little aggressive on Russell, but at Zandvoort you have to be aggressive if you want to overtake. To end up with a retirement is a real shame."
